The flagship Telecom/ICT Expo of the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON), NICOMM 2007 Exhibition and Conference is slated to hold in the prestigious MUSON Centre, Lagos – Nigeria on October 22 – 24, 2007. This edition is the 12th in the series of annual international exhibitions and conferences organised by the Association.
NICOMM 2007 promises to be a mega event judging from the repackaging and repositioning initiatives the Association has given to the event. ATCON decided to make the event measure up to international standards by introducing innovations that would attract more serious local exhibitors and multinational participants and sponsors.
For NICOMM 2007, ATCON is collaborating with commercial sections of foreign embassies to organise trade delegations from these countries to participate in the Exhibition and Conference which, by all means, has been the biggest telecom/ICT event in West Africa since its inception in 1994. These trade delegations would take up Country Pavilions where they would showcase their best technologies, products and services in the global telecom/ICT market.
Also, there will be opportunities for private presentations or target meetings for visiting and local exhibitors and sponsors wishing to engage in contact marketing with potentials partners, dealers or representatives in the very vibrant Nigerian telecom/ICT market.
The Nigerian telecommunications sector has continued on a steady growth path with a record of over 34million telephone lines from a meager 0.4million lines in year 2000. Also, current investments in the sector are estimated at over $138billion. It is further expected that the recent licensing of the 5th GSM operator and the licensing of 3G technology operators in April 2007 will further boost the inflow of local and foreign investments in the Nigerian telecom sector.
This year, several foreign trade missions have visited Nigeria to examine and explore investment opportunities in the telecoms market. ATCON’s interactions with the trade missions revealed that they are very eager to invest in Nigeria. NICOMM 2007 is therefore, designed to further strengthen the partnerships already established between foreign investors/technology providers and their local business collaborators in Nigeria. It is also expected to provide a cost-effective platform for opening new partnership initiatives between multinational corporations and local organizations wishing to expand and consolidate their market segment in the Nigeria telecom sector.
For the local operators, NICOMM 2007 is set to provide the most veritable platform to showcase some of the innovative systems and services which they current promote in the market. It is also a forum to reaffirm customer confidence as their participation in the pan-industry event signifies their stable growth in the very competitive Nigerian market environment.
NICOMM Exhibitions & Conferences have been adjudged the biggest international telecom/ICT event in Nigeria and West Africa. It is organized by the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON) - the apex and umbrella body of all telecom/ICT organizations in Nigerian and endorsed by the Ministry of Communications as well as the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC). NICOMM 2007 is expected to attract wide participation by local and multinational telecom/ICT companies wishing to create market awareness for their latest technologies, products and services in the vibrant Nigerian market.
Coming in the last quarter of the year when most companies are about drawing up their next year’s budgets, NICOMM Exhibition & Conference offers corporate organizations the best opportunity to decide on the appropriate communications technologies, equipment and services to acquire for their telecom/ICT requirements.
